According to the notice issued by the Chinese Consulate General in Kolkata, Chinese Visa Application Service Center updated “Application Procedures and Material Requirements of China Visa”, which will be implemented from 24 August, 2022.
I. Online Application and Appointment
Please visit the website of Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Kolkata and fill in your detailed and true information on the online application form and the confirmation page. Then make an appointment with your application form number following the system instructions.
II. Fingerprint Collection
1. Submit all the required documents in person at the Chinese Visa Center in Kolkata at your appointment time and retain ten fingerprints.
2.The following applicants can be exempt from fingerprint collection:
A. Applicants under the age of 14 or over 70.
B. Applicants who already had their fingerprints collected within the past five years at the Chinese Consulate General in Kolkata or the Chinese Visa Center in Kolkata with the same passport.
C. Applicants with all fingers mutilated or uncollectible.
III. Application Materials
1. General application materials for Visa:
A. Visa Application Form of the People's Republic of China.
B. Confirmation Page of Online Visa Application.
C. Original passport valid for at least 6 months, with 2 or more blank visa pages, and the photocopy of relevant pages of the passport.
D. Expired passports within 5 years and the photocopy of relevant pages of the passports.
E. Two recently-taken color passport photos (full face, front view and bare head. Size: 48mm×33mm).
F. Certificate of COVID-19 vaccination with verifiable QR code.
G. Indian long-term residence visa or work permits (for citizens of a third country)
H. Other necessary materials required by the Chinese Embassy in India and the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in New Delhi.

S2-Visa |

1. Covering letter with details as follows: place to visit, name, address, contact number, and email address of the university or entity of admission,etc. 2. For newly-enrolled students: ①Original and photocopy of ‘Visa Application for Study in China’ (Form JW201 or Form JW202); ② Original and photocopy of Admission Letter issued by a university in China; 3. For students who return to China to resume their studies: Original and photocopy of ‘Certificate of Returning to Campus’ issued by the university in China. |
3. For the application of visas for emergency or humanitarian reasons, such as attending funerals or visiting critically ill relatives, the applicants should submit the identity documents of the deceased or ill relative (e.g. foreigner's passport, etc.), a death certificate or a certificate of diagnosis, critical illness notice issued by a hospital, proof of kinship, etc. The applicants include spouses, parents, parents-in-law, children, spouses of children, brothers and sisters, grandparents and grandchildren.
IV. Application Channel
The above visas are processed through the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Kolkata. Please consult with the Visa Center in Kolkata or refer to its website for details of the procedures, requirements, processing time and fees.

V. Visa Applicants in the consular districts of the Chinese Consulate-Generals in Mumbai and Kolkata
1. Applicants who reside in Maharashtra or Karnataka should apply to Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Mumbai for visas.

VI. Application of Diplomatic and Official Visas
Diplomatic and official visa applications can be submitted to the Chinese Embassy or Consulates-General in India. Diplomatic passport holders, or applicants eligible for Chinese diplomatic, official or courtesy visas can be exempt from fingerprint collection.
VII. Cases Requiring no Visas for Entering into China:
1. Holders of valid Chinese‘Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card.
2. Holders of valid Chinese Residence Permit for work, personal matters, resident journalist and family reunion.
3. Starting from 24 August 2022, foreign students with valid Residence Permit for study.
4. Starting from 24 August 2022, holders of valid APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC).
VIII. Interpretation of Notice
The Chinese Consulate General in Kolkata reserves the right of explanation. If there is any inconsistency between the present notice and the previously released ones, the latest version shall prevail.
IX. Special Reminder and Other Supplementing Document Requirements
C Visa
Note: Non-regular scheduled flight, chartered flight, private plane must get the Aviation Permit before departure.
F Visa
(1) An invitation letter issued by a relevant entity or individual in China. The invitation should contain:
a. Information on the applicant (full name, gender, date of birth, etc.)
b.Information on the planned visit (purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, relations between the applicant and the inviting entity or individual, financial source for expenditures)
c.Information on the inviting entity or individual (name, contact telephone number, address, official stamp, signature of the legal representative or the inviting individual)
(2) Personal or Company's written statement (covering letter with details as follows: place to visit, name, address and contact number of the inviting / contact company or person).
M Visa
(1) Documents on the commercial activity issued by a trade partner in China, or trade fair invitation relevant entity or individual. The invitation letter should contain:
a. Information on the applicant (full name, gender, date of birth, etc.)
b.Information on the planned visit (purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, relations between the applicant and the inviting entity or individual, financial source for expenditures)
c.Information on the inviting entity or individual (name, contact telephone number, address, official stamp, signature of the legal representative or the inviting individual).
(2) Personal or company's written statement (covering letter with details as follows: place to visit, name, address and contact number of the inviting / contact company or person).
Q1 Visa
An invitation letter issued by a Chinese citizen or a foreign with a Chinese permanent residence permit who lives in China. The invitation letter should contain:
a. Information on the applicant (full name, gender, date of birth, etc.)
b. Information on the visit ( purpose of visit, intended arrival date, place(s) of intended residence, intended duration of residence, relations between the applicant and the inviting individual, financial source for expenditures)
c. Information on the inviting individual (name, contact telephone number, address, official stamp, signature of legal representative or the inviting individual, etc.)
We kindly remind you that:
Holders of Q1 Visa shall, within 30 days from the date of their entry, apply to the exit/entry administrations of public security organs under local people's governments at or above the county level in the proposed places of residence for foreigners' residence permits.
Q2 Visa
An invitation letter issued by a Chinese citizen or a foreign citizen with a Chinese permanent residence permit who lives in China. The invitation letter should contain:
a. Information on the applicant (full name, gender, date of birth, etc.)
b. Information on the visit (purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, relations between the applicant and the inviting individual, financial source for expenditures)
c. Information on the inviting individual (name, contact number, address, signature etc.)
S1 Visa
(1) An invitation letter from the inviting individual (a foreigner who stays or resides in China for work or studies) which contains:
a. Information on the applicant (full name, gender, date of birth, etc.)
b.Information on the visit (purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place of intended residence, relations between the applicant and the inviting individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.)
c. Information on the inviting individual (name, contact telephone number, address, signature, etc.)
(2) Personal written statement (covering letter with details as follows: place to visit, name, address and contact number of the inviting person).
We kindly remind you that:
Holders of S1 Visa shall, within 30 days from the date of their entry, apply to the exit/entry administrations of public security organs under local people's governments at or above the county level in the proposed places of residence for foreigners' residence permits.
S2-Visa
An invitation letter issued by the inviting individual (a foreigner who stays or resides in China for work or studies) which contains:
a. Information on the applicant (full name, gender, date of birth, etc.)
b. Information on the visit (purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, relations between the applicant and the inviting individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.)
c. Information on the inviting individual (name, contact telephone number, address, signature, etc.)
Z-Visa
(1) One of the following supporting documents is required:
a. Original Foreigners Employment Permit of the People's Republic of China issued by Chinese government authorities for Human Resources and Social Security. If the work period is 90 days or less, original Approval of Short-Term Employment for Foreigners Working in P.R. China is needed.
b.Original Permit for Foreign Experts Working in China issued by the State Bureau of Foreign Experts.
c.Notification Letter of Foreigner's Work Permit in the People's Republic of China issued by the State Bureau of Foreign Experts.
d.Registration Certificate of Resident Representative Offices of Enterprises of Foreign Countries(regions) issued by Chinese authorities of industrial and commercial administration.
e. An original approval document for commercial performances issued by the Chinese government authorities for cultural affairs. If the performance period is 90 days or less, original Approval of Short-Term Employment for Foreigners Working in P.R. China is needed.
f.Original Letter of Invitation to Foreigners for Offshore Petroleum Operations in China issued by China National Offshore Oil Corporation;
(2) Personal written statement (covering letter with details as follows: place to visit, name, address and contact number of the inviting / contact company or person).
We kindly remind you that:
A holder of category Z visa must apply for a residence permit at the local public security authorities within 30 days of entry into China unless the Duration of Each Stay on the visa is marked as 30 days.
Other Important Reminder
(1) The applicant should guarantee that all information provided in the application is true and correct. Any false, misleading or incomplete information may result in denial of the visa or refusal of entry into China.
(2) The invitation letter may be in the form of fax, photocopy or computer printout. If necessary, the consular officer may require the applicant to provide other documents or supplementary materials, or require an interview with the applicant.
(3) The consular officer will decide on whether or not to issue the visa and on its validity, duration of stay and number of entries in light of specific conditions of the applicant.
