Required Information for Consular Authentication Application

Documents issued in India to be used in China should be attested by the Chinese Embassy or Consulates General.

Before submitting a legal document to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center, an applicant must have the document notarized by a local Notary Public Office in India and attested by the CPV Division of the Ministry of External Affairs of India (Add: Patiala House, New Delhi), or the Branch Secretariat of the Ministry of External Affairs in Chennai, or the Branch Secretariat of the Ministry of External Affairs in Hyderabad.

(Some commercial documents should be attested by certain Chamber of Commerce and Industry before submitting to the M.E.A. Please inquire information to the CPV Division of the Ministry of External Affairs of India.)

After the above has been done, the document should be submitted to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center along with the following documents:

1. A duly-filled Application Form for Attestation. Signature or fingerprint of the applicant is required.

2. Original and photocopy of the legal documents (both sides for the signed and stamped page). If one document has 2 pages above, it should be stapled properly and sealed and stamped by the Notary Public Office or will be refused by the Embassy. (Applications will not be accepted if the contents of the documents are against Chinese laws.)

3. If it is for commercial use, please submit passport photocopy of the company’s Legal Representative, Company letter to prove the Identification of the company’s legal representative, Signed Covering Letter with attestation purpose and the list of the commercial attestation document from the Company of the applicant.

4. Signed Covering Letter with attestation purpose and the list of the attestation document from the applicant himself/herself if it is for civil use. (Example: Attestation for birth certificate, marriage certificate, educational certificates, non-criminal record, etc.)

5. Original and photocopy of applicant’s passport or other legal ID.

6. If you submit through an agent, please provide original and photocopy of agent’s passport or other legal ID.

7. The Embassy has the right to ask for other supplementary documents.

(NoteChinese Embassy will not accept application for marital status attestation if the marital status is notarized before 6 months from the date of submission. For foster care purpose, Chinese Embassy will not accept application for marital status, health, property, income and non-criminal record if the above-mentioned certificates are notarized before 6 months from the date of application for foster care.)
